What can be better than a book that came to nowadays from the times of nights and princesses? Well, may be there is something better than it but there are people who are sure that there is nothing better than a book. And they have a right and reasons to believe it. The books appeared as a desire of people to keep some facts, to prevent those facts to be forgotten. With the lapse of time there appeared a number of genres the books were written according to norms of which. There appeared fiction, novels, adventure books and a variety of other books.
At times when there was no television people read books in order to find out more about countries they have never heard before. It also was a way to spend time when people were bored. At those times there was no single person who wouldn't read a book. There also were the literary evenings. People were reading poems at those evenings and shared their impressions about one or another book. It was common for people to talk about new trends of literature and books they have read. Though, the time lapsed and things were changed. A number of other entertainments appeared. Those entertainments were broadcasting, television etc.
Sure people were fond of technical progress and become possessed with idea to have TV-set. Soon, there were a few people who still were fond of reading, most people preferred television before books. Things are the same today, most people prefer to watch movie after some book than to read the book. Though, those who still read books state that a movie is nothing in comparison to books. Today, a few people read books but a number of people write them. There used to be a few people who were recognized as writers and their books worth their weight in gold.
Things are different today and there are a number of people who call themselves as writers but a few people who may be called readers. Moreover, according to critics modern literature leaves much to be desired. Though, let's not concentrate upon the quality of modern literature but let's concentrate upon the literature as it is. First of all it has to be said that reading of book is a process that makes our imagination generating different images. Reading about some events or phenomena people make up their mind about those phenomena and events. They percept the ideas of the book and their psychic gives certain response for each of those ideas.
There are a number of thoughts suggested to people by one or another novel of different writers. And the thoughts, books suggest for us, are thoughts carried on through ages on the pages of the book. It is not a secret that modern morality is extremely different from the one people had some years ago. And there are no movies or TV-shows that deal with that morality. Most movies are aimed on revealing of intrigues. So, it is fair to state that the most delicate features of ancient times are saved only on the pages of books. Sure, one may say that it is enough watching the movie to find out more about ancient times, though movies are aimed on impressing of people but not on reporting some information.
