vs.

Happy medium

Frankly speaking, it is impossible to make a choice between television and books. There is no way for people to live without one of these arts. They are the arts, and just like any other kinds of art these two kinds reflect the mood of modern century. They reflect it in different ways, though the reflection is identically perfect. There is no way for people to refuse the television as it will cause in a number of troubles. They won't be able to find out what is going on in the world and they will become just as unintelligent they were for some hundreds of years ago. And there is no way for people to refuse books as the books is a source of something television will never provide us with.

So, most parents try to make their choice between books and television. There are parents who believe that television ruins the minds of children and make them uncontrolled and ignorant to everything. They are frightened with tendencies modern television suggests for people, though they forget about the fact that their parents were just as cold to their interests. There is no way for two different generations to find mutual understandings as their representatives are people of different ages and values. Though, if you are not able to understand your child it doesn't mean that your child is totally uncontrolled.

There are also parents who believe that there is no need in books. They are sure that the information children need to know they can get from internet and television. But, this belief is just as wrong as the belief about needlessness of television for children. During watching TV, people only percept the information that is suggested to them. But during reading a book there is an opportunity for people to think over each single fact they are reading about. You won't be able to stop TV-show in order to have time for making up your mind about what you have seen. Though, there is an opportunity to do that while reading a book.

It is clear that a happy medium has to be found in order to provide your children with everything they need. One has no right to deprive a child of something, and this action won't take you anywhere. If you believe that certain TV-shows harms you child it is better to do something in order to prevent your child's watching that show than forbid him watching TV. And if your child wants to have some book you should never give him an advice to read about thing he or she is interested at in the internet. You should buy a book your child wants and it may result in a number of good consequences.

Try to find a happy medium and you will have no troubles with bringing up of your child. The happy medium is the best decision in this situation. Don't try to decide which is better: to deprive your child of television or to deprive if of books. You better think about the way to combine those to kinds of modern art.
