The way it is

The way it is today is the way extremely different from the one it was. The way it was is peculiar for reading books but the way it is peculiar for watching TV. There are a few people who are still thirsty for reading and for receiving information from books. Though, there are a great number of people who prefer watching TV before reading books. TV for those people is the best way to receive just the information they wanted. They believe that receiving information from television is not only more interesting but also spares great amount of time. And they are right in their belief. It does spare time of people but it also spares minds of people.

According to psychological researches, people who prefer watching TV only are people of dull nature. They prefer watching TV before everything in their lives. Sure, they do it unconsciously, it happens of itself. Watching TV is a perfect way to spend one's time as there is no need in going somewhere, doing something and pay for something. Television provides people with all necessary staff without their leaving a room. Though, if there is no need to leave a room there is any opportunity of meeting new people and having conversation with them. No people – no conversation, no conversation – no communication, no communication – no satisfaction of common thirstiness.

There is an Internet that prevents people talk to each other face to face, and there is television that prevents the same. If nothing will be changed soon we will see no other people except those we see on the TV. And that is impossible for people to live like that. The way it is today is peculiar for predominating of television and Internet above everything. A few people today buy books and read those. The reason for it is not only television and Internet but terrible quality of modern literature. If you ask people what their opinion about modern literature is, they will say you that it is terrible. The terrible books are suggested for customers at bookstalls.

Though, we have to admit that books we have at the bookstalls are books that most of us prefer. The publishers are ready to publish only those books people buy better, and the picture we see at the bookstalls is a picture of modern interests of people. It is wrong to blame someone in terrible quality of the modern literature, but it is right to think about what is the thing this literature reflects. And the thing modern literature reflects is our inner world and our values. We are people of no high morality and interests; we are the people who agree to buy anything that are suggested for us. If there is someone to be blamed in books we have today, that someone is us.
